Makeup Monday: Brush Cleaning

Missed me much?  I know you did.  Sorry for the impromptu hiatus.

I've been busy trying to get myself back into the work force and the whole ordeal has been so stressful that I haven't been in much of a blogging mood.

Anyway, I'm back again and have still got a lot of fun things planned for you guys as far as this blog is concerned so be excited.

Today's post is about the one thing that most of us makeup users are guilty of - dirty brushes.

My name is Duckie and I'm a dirty brushoholic.

There, I said it.  I haven't cleaned my brushes in AGES.

I never really had time to clean and dry them before since I used them every single day - which is probably when I should have cleaned them the most.

Anyway, to clean your makeup brushes, you'll need these things:
  • Anti-bacterial liquid soap
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Got your stuff together yet?  Good.  Now here's what you do:

1.  Add 1 part oil to 1 part soap in a dish.
 2.  Use your brush to mix the oil and soap together.

3.  Lather the brush with the mixture to get all the makeup and residue off.

4.  Continue to lather the brush by swiping in back and forth in your hand and rinse with water.  (Sorry, no picture for this part - I don't have three hands.)

5.  Repeat if necessary then squeeze out any excess water from your brushes.

 6.  Lay at a slight angle (bristles down) to dry.

This is my favorite way to clean my brushes!  The anti-bacterial soap cleans and disinfects and the oil helps to keep the bristles soft and fluffy.

Now go on and start cleaning those brushes!  It's a holiday (for you Americans) so you don't really have an excuse.

Hope you liked this mini tutorial!

See you tomorrow!

♥ Duckie.
