Let me start off by saying that my heart and prayers go out to all the families affected by this tragedy. I am truly sorry for your loss and I know that no amount of sympathy can ever be enough.
I'm not going to write a whole news article on what happened, but if you're not aware of what I'm talking about, you can take a look at the following video.
I was sitting on my couch when the news of this tragedy broke. Joey and the kids were asleep and my sister and I were just sitting around, watching tv, and hanging out. Our initial reaction to the news was shock.
This type of thing just doesn't happen here on Guam.
We are a very family oriented island - how could anyone who has lived here do something like that? How could someone deliberately kill innocent people? Who in their right mind would stab an 81-year old woman? A mother and her babies?
What kind of monster would do such a thing?
I still cannot believe it. Guam is usually a very safe place to live. Murders are very rare here - this is supposed to be a paradise. This is a place for tourists to relax and enjoy the tropical weather and island spirit - not a place to be feared.
This tragedy has affected so many people. The island of Guam is still in shock from it all and our deepest and sincerest condolences go out to the people of Japan.
The actions of this man do not reflect who the people of Guam are. He does not reflect any kind of human being.
