A Message to My Daughters...

I sat at my computer this morning, a cup of coffee in hand, trying to figure out what to post about today.  I'm the kind of a spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment kinda gal, so my posts are rarely planned, thought-out or scheduled weeks in advance.  I think its better when you just let the words flow, don't you?

Well, after reading through my daily blog subscriptions, I was absolutely thrilled to see that my BBFF (Best Blogging Friend Forever) is back from her hiatus and had written a post.  My BBFF, Keena, and I had been blog stalking each other for a while in 2012 and we became fast friends because we're so similar.  We're both crazy/fun Koreans with gorgeous children and amazing men we love to complain about.  Hahaha.

Anyway, after reading Keena's heartfelt post about the new direction of her blog, it got me thinking about what I've been blogging about and what I want others to get out of what I write.  I initially started this blog as a way to show off my style, and then started to include beauty tips, and then threw my personal/family life into the mix.  This blog and the content in it have become so much more than I thought it would be and I want to continue my random, various, and wide-range of topics.

And when the day comes and my daughters stumble across this little blog of mine, I hope they understand more about who I am, and I want them to know that no matter what, they have been and always will be two of the most precious things in my life.

Girls,

A rush of memories come to mind right now as I type this.  I am overwhelmed with thoughts of all the great moments we've shared together so far and I'm excited for the future.

Aniyah, you're 10 years-old right now and will be heading into middle school soon!  What a learning experience that will be for the both of us!  Right now you're learning how to spread your wings and trying to be more independent and I'm really struggling with it.  I know that you will make me proud and grow up to be a beautiful and intelligent woman but that doesn't mean it makes it any easier for me to let you venture off into the world.

I know at times it may seem like I'm hard on you, but know that I'm only trying to push you to reach your full potential.  You're smart, and just as cunning as I am - use that to your advantage.  Don't dwell on the past and what you don't have or cannot do - that will only hold you back from being who you were destined to be.  Keep moving forward and focus on yourself no matter what may happen around you.  Everything else will fall into place.

Chloe, you continue to amaze me each and every day.  I knew we were in for an adventure with you before you were even born.  You've got a wild imagination and amazing artistic abilities that I hope you continue to share with the world.  You're one of the brightest, most confident people I know and you have never been afraid to speak your mind - hold tight to that characteristic and never let that spark die.

Your attitude is definitely the same as mine, which is why we butt heads so often.  Learning when to tone it down will be your most difficult lesson but it will allow you to explore more possibilities once you're able to swallow some of that pride.  You're only 5 right now but I know you have a long wonderful journey ahead of you, full of drama and excitement - just like the movies and TV shows you love to reenact.

I hope you both take the time to enjoy the moments in your lives, whether they be good or bad, because in the end, every moment in your life will have been meaningful.  Please also understand that this blog is my way of expressing my creativity and my feelings through written words, but it will still never be able to fully express how much you both truly mean to me.

Read through these posts and stories and reflect on our lives together.  Laugh about them and realize how wonderful your life has been, and as you read through the comments, understand how blessed you are to have complete strangers enjoy and look forward to reading about you and our family's triumphs, woes, and everyday simplicities.

So much more love than you could ever imagine,

Mommy
