Blogger Rebellion

I saw this notice pop up yesterday as I was getting some blog time in and it kind of pissed me off a little.  I mean, I don't post nude photos of myself or anyone anyway so it wouldn't really affect my previous posts and photos, but still.  The fact that someone is going to try and limit what I do on the internet at all just makes me mad.  It kind of makes me want to post explicit pictures just to show them how I feel.  But, of course, I won't.

I guess it's the same with any type of authority that tries blocking or banning you from doing something - it makes you want to do it even more.  Obviously, I don't take to kindly to being told what I can and cannot do on the internet since I'm STILL getting around the web blocks here at work and streaming YouTube playlists instead of Pandora.  Suck on that, I.T. guys!

Anyway, so because Google and Blogger feel like they have the authority to limit and ban what we post on the internet and on our blogs, I've decided that they can no longer be trusted.  That being said, I'm thinking about switching over to WordPress.  The thing is, I'm freaking out - I've never used WordPress, I'm not used to it, and I have no idea how to even start to do that.  Sooooo...I'll be researching and doing my homework on how to transition to WordPress over the weekend and will also take notes to post up on Tuesday's Tips in case anyone else is thinking about making the switch.

What do you think about Blogger's new "Adult Content" policy?  Do you use WordPress or Blogger?  Know of any helpful sites or posts that could help me transition?  Please HELP!

  1. I'm so over Blogger. I've been wanting to make the switch too, but I'm technologically inept, and people are charging cray cray rates to do it for you. I'm gonna attempt to transfer everything myself, so ::fingers crossed:: that I don't lose everything. haha

  2. Oh fuck that! Not that I post nude pictures or anything...but this is exactly why I switched to Wordpress over a year ago! There is no reason for that nonsense. I like owning my own is my words and thoughts afterall! If you need any help navigating through Wordpress, feel free to reach out to me! My husband is the one who got my username and did the actual switch so I cant help there...but once you get it going I can help in anyway that I can !

  3. Before I got to the end of your post, I was going to say "That's why I'm not on Blogger". Not that I post adult content but I don't need rules imposed on me. Anywho, when I transitioned to WordPress, I bought an eBook that was VERY helpful. I tried googling the author/book but doesn't look like she writes it anymore. I'd be happy to share my copy. Email me.

  4. telling me I can't do something makes me want to do it so much more. like. even if it was something I didn't actually want to do before, telling me I can't makes me wanna do it. I've used wordpress before, I just feel so much more capable with blogger + I don't want to have to host everything on my ownnnnnn

  5. As you know, I use wordpress and I haven't had many problems at all. I did get some negative comments from a blogger because I used WordPress in the beginning but I just let that slide right off my back. They have recently updated the site so it is much more user friendly than it used to be in my opinion. I did have to pay to purchase my domain but I'm cool with that, it was pretty dang cheap!

  6. Telling me that I can't do something makes me want to do it more too haha I am using wordpress right now and I love it. It's really easy to use! good luck with the move :)

  7. Ugh this is so annoying. I think one day Ill switch. For now I dont care for the hassle but still I hate being told what I can and cannot do with my own blog!

Thanks for reading! I love comments and meeting new bloggers so please feel free to say "Hi"!
