Sunday Sweats: Vol. 6

It's really no surprise that I've been slacking off on my fitness routine a lot lately.  I've been trying to get back into the swing of things since coming back from our trip.  I seriously gained about 10lbs. during the week we were there because all we did was eat all the good stuff we don't have here on Guam.  Starbucks (Venti caramel Frappe) and breakfast (Sunnyside, Kilani Bakery, Zippy's) every morning, full lunches everyday (Dat Cajun Guy, Kua'aina Burger, Zippy's [again and again]), and HUGE dinners every night (Morton's Steakhouse, Cajun King, Serge's, Cheeseburger Beachwalk).  Basically I ate like #idgaf because calories and pounds don't count when you're in another state, right?  WRONG.

Now that I'm back I have a shit ton MORE work to do since I pretty much canceled out any progress I did make before I left, which really wasn't much to begin with.  I've already restarted my C25k training and did a little yoga last week but I'm really trying to up my routine and commitment so I'm going to aim for C25k training on M/W/F and HIIT workouts on T/Th to make it a complete week of work.

I'm also going to start doing yoga every day (either in the mornings or as a warm-up/cool-down routine) and will be doing the Squat, Ab, and Arm challenges as well.  Yeah, I'm basically killing myself, but I'm really excited about it because that just means I'll be seeing more progress.  The C25k, yoga and squat challenges I'm used to already - it's the HIIT, arm and ab challenges that will be more of a challenge.

As far as dieting goes, I'm still not promising anything, but I have been eating oatmeal in the mornings and eating smaller portions of meals as well as trying to snack healthier (oatmeal cookies, almonds, granola bars, etc. instead of candy and chips) so I don't feel the need to binge on a giant cheeseburger by dinnertime.

Cheers to a new week full of work!

  1. I have some advice to someone who's trying to get fit. This has worked for me in the past, if I get hungry during the daytime, or even at night, I just drink a glass of water. And if at the end of the glass of water I'm still hungry, then I will get something to eat. Hope that helps you out!

  2. Don't be too hard on yourself after a week/weekend of eating a lot because we all deserve that in life. And it's better to stay positive and continue on than beating yourself over for what you did/didn't do. That's what I say to myself when I haven't worked out in over a month. Try not to beat myself over it. My time will come...
