In an effort to be more creative this year, I've joined a few challenges to help motivate and push me to improve my skills. One of the challenges I've joined is the #ohjournaletc Creative Art Journal Challenge.
For this challenge, the goal is to create one entry each week to correspond with the prompts given by Areeba and Hawwa at the beginning of the month. Last week's prompt was "2016" so I doodled a few things that I want to do and accomplish during the year (sew more, balance my finances, read more, travel, take care of my health, etc.).
This week's prompt is "Blue" and I'm excited to get started on it already. I've always wanted to create an art journal but have never known where to start or how to go about doing it. I think my problem was that I was scared I'd do it wrong or it would turn out ugly so I needed an instruction manual or a guide to follow, when I should have realized that art doesn't come with instructions (except maybe for paint by numbers or something) and that there are no mistakes when you're creating something from the heart.
I still don't know what I'm doing, but that's kind of the fun of it. Some things you just have to dive right into and immerse yourself in.
Do you have an art journal? What challenges have you joined this year so far? Have you ever been scared to create something because you thought it wouldn't turn out right?
